Midlands music-force-for-good Chris Illet kindly recommended me for a mastering job: mastering some previously released tracks from Punk Fox records in partnership with Loud Women for a vinyl release to help promote their tenth anniversary.

For this album, I had 12 bands and 12 already mastered mixes to try to bring together on a cohesive journey. The approach was listening to all, choosing the tracks with the closest sound to what I had in mind, then working back on the others to try to match them. Some mixes were pretty far away, already slammed….and as the running order was already set, I had to essentially try to get as close as possible, sometimes over a couple of tracks gradually. Tough gig, but the sprit’s in tack I think.
