Emo prog power metal band Fools and Sages have released their self recorded, self produced album today. A pair of hard workers….ace arrangements and astounding vocals.

Drums by Jacob Randall in New Zealand

Loved mixing this album…..actually several tracks were mixed over a couple of years, with a last flurry of tracks this year. Not the sort of music I’ve done before, which was a good enough reason to say yes to the gig. I found it incredibly interesting deconstructing the genre before taking it somewhere else and sprinkling it with my own tastes. An absolute load of SSL plug ins were used to get the shine I needed… the E Series Channel Strip in particular…on almost every guitar and vocal channel. The Flexverb and De-esser feature heavily. Soundtoys EchoBoy, MicroShift, Little and Superplate, UAD tape , 1176, LA2A, Pultec and Capitol Chamber emulations were also on most songs. To be honest… those make up pretty much most of my toolkit on most mixes…just in different proportions. Not sure, then, why I have so many 100s of plug ins!

Anyway……go check the album out now
